🔗 European Global Impact Score 🇫🇷
The methodological framework used to assess the environmental footprint of products integrated into Glimpact is the European PEF method. This Life-Cycle Assessments (LCA) method was adopted by the European Union as a reference framework for defining and measuring the environmental footprint of products, as outlined in European Commission recommendation no. 2021/2279 of December 16, 2021.
A Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is a method for evaluating the environmental impacts associated with all stages of a product's life, from the extraction of raw materials to its end-of-life.
Glimpact has chosen the Product/ Organization Environmental Footprint (PEF/OEF) methods to assess the environmental impact of a product and organization throughout its life cycle, with the aim of standardizing and improving environmental sustainability.
Product Environmental Footprint Category Rules (PEFCR) are specific guidelines that define how to conduct a Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) assessment for a given product category, thus ensuring consistent and comparable assessments.
The single PEF score is an aggregated metric that synthesizes the overall environmental impact of a product, making it easier to compare and assess the environmental performance of different products or the same product under different scenarios.
