Glimpact philosophy
Global Impact Score is a free web-based tool to assess the environmental footprint of apparel products through life cycle assessment (LCA) using the Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) methodology. This tool allows you to first assess product footprint then understand the origin and hotspots of impact and above all identify the right levers for impact reduction through eco-design simulations.
This free application is limited to the calculation of the PEF environmental score and eco-design for apparel, but for those who want to go further, they can upgrade to the Glimpact platform with all its features.
Glimpact is making its calculation engine public in a simplified version for apparel. This is a non-expert tool, meaning no LCA experience or training is required to perform accurate assessments. Even though the tool is oriented towards professionals in the fashion industry, citizens are welcome to explore the impact of their belongings. In the near future, the platform will enable the evaluation of footwear. Stay tuned as we release the Global Impact Score web-based tool for more product categories!
Glimpact offers a simple, user-friendly tool that lets you measure the impact of your products in just a few clicks, providing you with an analysis of 16 indicators, including climate change (CO2 impact).

The Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) is a European Union initiative launched in 2013 that aims to assess the environmental impact of products throughout their life cycle using the ISO 14040-44 method. It is a standardized measurement tool that enables companies and consumers to better understand and compare the ecological footprint of different products.
Prior to this, there were numerous methods for assessing the environmental impact of products, but they were not harmonized, making it difficult to compare impacts and understand the scope of a given product assessment.
